Hi!
I hope you have all had a bloody good Christmas and New Year! Mine was full of merrymaking, too many mince pies and a little too much mulled wine... predictably. Fortunately for me though, my family were bestowed with an Xbox Kinect this Christmas, which has seen me Skiing, Boxing, and Zumba Yoga-ing my way through the holidays, helping me to keep this sculpted turkey stuffing physique in check ;-)
I am sitting in coach D on a train travelling back to London from my home town of Grimsby. Coach D being the only carriage with empty seats, presumably because it's the only carriage where the heating has packed in. You can't have it all I suppose. Although the tables do have built in chess boards... but come on.. seriously.. judging by the colourfully descriptive musings carved into the headrest of the seat in front of me advising me on whom I should call for what can only be described as "a good time", I can't really see many kids on these trains these days sitting down to partake in a good ol' game of checkers.
My 2011 ended on a real high note, as I toured the UK with Rumer and played some incredible shows to the biggest audiences of my career so far. It was electrifying walking out each night to sing to a couple of thousand people, and a feeling I hope I definitely get the chance to be able to experience again soon.
Anyways... Can't wait to get this new year started!
So I fly to Berlin this Wednesday 18th January, tomorrow actually, to start a 5 week tour of Germany and Austria, 25 shows in all. Really looking forward to getting back out on the road and seeing all my friends again! I'm excited to be opening for talented German singer/songwriter Tom Luneburger, and we begin this Thursday 19th January in Potsdam. Some great venues coming up in some great cities throughout Germany including Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt... all the way down to Vienna in Austria.
Also looking forward to debuting my brand new fashion line! I will now have t-shirts available at all my shows (as well as my two 10-track CDs) for the very first time. Extra useful as it means I don't have to pack any of my own clothes for the tour ;-)
From Germany I will have a couple of days off before flying straight out to the USA for my third 2-month tour there within a year. 25 shows and pretty much every major city means I will be on the road constantly now until June. Visa issues meant that the tour had to be pushed back by a few days, meaning a couple of shows have to be rearranged, but fret not, the tour will be going ahead as planned. I have been invited back to SxSW Festival in Austin Texas for the second year running, and then onto San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York City, Atlanta, Alabama, Nashville...
The bookings are coming in thick and fast now, and lots of private shows too which is awesome to see! They have been some of the most memorable nights over the past couple of tours :-) We are still finalising dates, so if you want me to sing at your party, in your living room, bathroom, on the bar-b-q or wherever, please get in touch whilst there are still some gaps. I will attempt to get back into this blog malarkey again and keep you all updated with my adventures, but it would also be great to see everyone's photo's and movies along the way, so please keep posting them to my page.
Lastly, and most importanly, my eternal thanks to everyone who has been halping me on this crazy journey. So many of you constantly overwhelm me with your generocity, kindly donating your time, your money, and your sofa's to help me make this work. Thank you for spreading the word and continually sharing my music. You know who you are! I couldn't do it without you.
